We have been able to bring 43 dogs into the rescue in 2022, thanks in huge part to our shelter partners, vet clinic partners and volunteers. We currently have 40 dogs in foster homes under our care, which includes monthly preventatives and all vetting costs. The requests for animals in need has not declined during this time, however. Vetting costs are up and donations are down due to the economy. In the 4th quarter of 2022, we find that we are still feeling the issues from the past two years. Regardless of the reason, AABR volunteers are willing to step up to help these dogs get healthy and find a home that is well-matched to their personalities and needs. Some dogs are surrendered due to medical issues that were too demanding or expensive for their families to support. Many of our dogs come to us severely neglected or abused. Over the past three years, we coordinated over 350 transports covering a combined total of approximately 225,000 miles to connect dogs with temporary foster care, forever families or other rescue organizations.
